Laughter is the Best Medicine gala was a resounding success!
On November 7, 2009, more than $272,000 was raised in support of Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers' programs, projects, and services. Over 530 guests enjoyed an evening of gourmet cuisine, dancing, a silent auction, and musical entertainment by "The Rat Pack is Back."
New at this year's event was the first annual presentation of the Marreel Excellence in Service Awards, sponsored by avid supporters of CHW Foundation - East Valley, Tom and Julia Marreel. The Marreels wanted to do something to reward excellence in patient care, recognizing that patient care comes from all areas in the hopsital: from physicians, clinical staff, administrators and support staff, and volunteers.
This year's Marreel Excellence in Service awards were presented to:

Laurie Eberst, President and CEO of Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, and Mark Kem, the-Interim President and CEO of Chandler Regional Medical Center, were on hand to present the award medallions to the recipients. Along with the award medallions, the physician recipients will have a scholarship in their name given to a Roadways to Healthcare Careers student. The other recipients will be given a certificate for their 2010 continuing education.
